Shearer Candles is now the oldest producer of lifestyle candle,s in the UK.
Shearer,s upholding a long Tradition of Scottish Candle-making-witness the fact that Candleriggs, built in 1724, is one of the oldest streets in the city of Glasgow. It,s where Shearer,s began. Messrs Shearer and Harvey, worked there as chandlers before opening their own factory on the city outskirts, in 1897. There you first bought your ingredients, then they made your candle for you. Now more than a century later, they would be astonished to see a factory full of technology and to know that Shearer,s Candles travel the globe.
Shearer,s Candles have taken over the last century, from something so simple and utilitarian to a coveted luxury, the product of so much skill and care.
